ABOUT OUR FOUNDATION
Advancing Education

The Steer and Booth School Foundation was established in 1660 by the Wills of Revd. George Steer, Rector of Newdigate Church and George Booth, a local landowner. Assets left from their Wills were to be invested, with the income used for the education of children in the Parish of Newdigate. This resulted in the formation of Newdigate Church of England Endowed Infant School, thus making it uniquely the oldest Foundation school in Surrey, a great privilege for the village. Here you can learn more about who we are and what we do.
